Jon Snow Learns Economics in Game of Thrones
Great lessons about tradeoffs and specialization
What are the economic lessons we can learn from Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon? We will examine different economic lessons each week during season 2 of House of the Dragon’s release this summer. This is the final post/video of the series - I hope you enjoyed!
Tyrion Teaches Jon about Specialization
In the first lesson we highlight, Jon asks Tyrion Lannister why he reads so much. Tyrion shares that because he is a dwarf, he can’t do many activities and needs to specialize in using his brain and that a brain needs books.
Trade offs and Opportunity Cost with Stannis Baratheon
In the second lesson, Stannis Baratheon asks Jon to do something crazy - partner with the wildlings and ask them to join their army. This is a great example of tradeoffs, both faced by Stannis and by Jon.
