I had the pleasure of watching the debate with Jadrian Wooten and Brian O’Roark on Tuesday. Well … the debate was not a pleasure to endure, but it was nice watching with friends. We discussed the economic responses in detail, and you can catch a short excerpt here:
A few thoughts a couple days after the debate:
No questions were asked about the national debt. Neither candidate seems to have any desire to do anything about it, but it would be nice if that was at least raised. The debt is going to be a MAJOR problem unless action is taken soon.
I really dislike Trump’s tariff policies or his threats to end the Federal Reserve’s independence. Both of those are very, very bad.
I really dislike Harris’s policies to put in price caps on foods, price caps on rents, and to subsidize housing along with other areas of the economy.
— The price caps are the single worst things being proposed by either candidate. (And, in my opinion, capping prices on food is the worst thing proposed by any of the final two presidential candidates in my lifetime.)
I might be naive, but I’m hopeful that whichever candidate wins will not be able to do as much as they are claiming.
This screenshot from the night sort of sums up the evening, IMO.
