Why is The Right to Earn a Living a Fundamental Human Right?
A Conversation with Timothy Sandefur
I had a long conversation with Timothy Sandefur on the right to earn a living and am releasing it in a series of videos. Timothy Sandefur is a Vice President at the Goldwater Institute and a constitutional government expert. He is also the author of several books, including The Right to Earn a Living.
Our first video examines why the right to earn a living is a fundamental human right, even though it was not explicitly listed in the Bill of Rights. It was not listed in the Bill of Rights because it was seen as so basic and obvious that the founding fathers did not think they needed to mention it.
What is the right to earn a living? It involves the ability to use one’s own skills and knowledge for economic opportunity, to work in any job they’d like, or to start their own business.
This right is essential for individual freedom and pursuit of happiness and is a fundamental human right. Check out the video for more information.
